Flipping end on end in the coldness of space, Gun'ael swept the controls hard to the left as the Eldar fighter accelerated away from the Chaos Thunderhawks. Cannon fire darted to his right as the Eldar fighter came around again for another attack run.
The spirits of all the Eldar pilots before Gun'ael moaned their ascent of this new pilot as he guided the craft through demanding turns, goading the wraithbone structures to break apart under the stresses of his gruelling flight paths.
Bracing hard against the forces at play, Gun'ael triggered the craft's guns, strafing the side of a Thunderhawk with shuriken cannon fire as he lifted on the stick slightly. Slipping above the armoured beast which lingered, the pilot dared his craft into a tight downward turn to engage another target.
With graceful ease, the sleek form of the white fighter dived, another salvo of razor-sharp disks meeting the cold metal hull of another Chaos vessel as it swept on.
Before he could react, a warning burst through the young Eldar pilot's mind. At last, the Chaos forces were retreating, although it was of little consequence now.
The Chaos forces had all but destroyed His Craftworld.

Caught unawares despite the best efforts of the Craftworld's Farseers, these worshippers of the Great Enemy had got the drop on Gun'ael's Craftworld. They were upon them before the Eldar could launch fighters and before many of the fast and agile Eldar craft could muster a proper defence of their Craftworld.
Gliding his fighter around once more, Gun'ael's eyes caught sight of explosion. It blossomed amongst the many habdomes. Knowing full well that that blast would probably of crippled the population of the Craftworld beyond repair, Gun'ael set his sights on revenge.
Spinning the fighter end on end, Gun'ael gunned the star engines. Although not common on Eldar craft, they were a regular fixture on his wings fighters. Willing his spacecraft ever faster, the pilot switched to bright lances and brought the nose into line with one of the escaping Chaos vessels. With little hope in causing much damage, Gun'ael fired anyway.
A brief second later, the lances of laser energy were gone and his eyes fixated on the place on the hull where they had struck. At the last instant, Gun'ael threw his controls forward, only just managing to stop the Eldar fighter from ramming the massive Chaos craft.
From behind him, the spirits gave their evaluation of his situation and at the fatal error he had narrowly missed. Flicking off the star engines again, Gun'ael fired the jets to slow his speed.

Coming to a near stop, Gun'ael considered his options. A brief glance at the destroyed hanger bays on the Craftworld closed the doors on that option. His fighter wing was all but destroyed, with only Gun'ael's craft still in fighting condition.
Before the Chaos forces could accurately target the still Eldar fighter, Gun'ael gunned the star engines. The rapid acceleration was punishing. He could of sworn he felt the psychic pain of the spirits onboard his fighter flash into his brain for an instant.
Flipping the craft back into a position parallel to the ground on the Craftworld, Gun'ael made one last fly by his former home.
Shattered domes were empty, their contents sucked out into space. Below him, he could see remnants of his race fighting the invaders who had made it through the fighter screen and onto the Craftworld's surface.
He saw the towering forms of wraithlords fighting Chaos Terminators in the depths of space on the out surface of the hull. Clearly the lack of atmosphere had not stopped these two deadly foes from fighting each other.

He felt a single tear run down his cheek as the realization hit him finally. He had no home. No way to get back. His kin were dead or dying.
Easing their way into his mind, the spirits of the craft gave him strength to continue to fight. Throwing the Eldar fighter around in a tight turn, Gun'ael swept it around a narrow cluster of aerial's, his hand guided by a mysterious force that was Uonan, an ancient even by Eldar standards. Even before the Fall, Uonan was one of the best pilots that the Eldar ever produced.
Drawing his bead, using the drifting hulks as cover, the Eldar craft slipped past destroyed hulks, both Eldar and Chaos. Often with only less then half an inch clearance between his wing tips and the destroyed fragments of vessels.
Even as his craft darted from hulk to hulk with no margin for error, Gun'ael's felt his mind drift. Entrusting his mortal body to Uonan's unparrelled skill, Gun'ael felt himself meld into the very fabric of Eldar fighter.
Beneath the logic of his elders, there was a severe undercurrent. One which he too shared. A sadness and anger which seeped into his mind and soul.
He seemed to watch his body perform the complex dance as his body manipulated the controls with a kind of ease that he never had.
At last, his fighter broke out of the last over the available cover, Gun'ael's mind slipped back into his body with a force of will. If anyone would strike these cowards down and they them low, it would be at his hand.

Lining up for one last attack, Gun'ael thumbed the controls of his ordnance. Letting off salvo after salvo of disk razors into the flanks of the fleeting Chaos fleet, then slipping onto pulsar batteries, Gun'ael continued his advance towards the escaping Chaos fleet.

With his ammo finally dry, Gun'ael hit the star engines and accelerated into the aft engine assembly of largest Chaos vessel…
